Mrs United Nation International Lianda (Ehlers) Hurter

Profile – Lianda (Ehlers) Hurter
2009- 2011

I was born on 13 April 1973 in Uitenhage and lived in Despatch for 3 years. I enjoyed acarefree childhood in the beautiful town of Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo.

In 1989 I moved to Bloemfontein with my family and matriculated at Sentraal High Schoolin 1991 with a number of highlights in various sporting events such as provincial coloursin Cross Country and Athletics. I also achieved SA colours in Netball while attending theBloemfontein Teacher’s College.

I completed my Teacher’s Diploma at the Bloemfontein College of Education and startedmy teaching career which I practised for 9 years in Bloemfontein. Thereafter I moved ontothe Estate Market as an Estate Agent at Remax in Bloemfontein.

I expressed my creativity in our family business as a designer and developer of variousprojects such as the new Mangaung Studio’s Administrative Building in Dan Pienaar,Bloemfontein.

As a dynamic woman and mother of two, Lanelle and WG, I decided to divert from myprofessional career as a teacher and to get involved with charity work on a full-time basis.

My commitment to Yade Management in 2009 and 2010 led to my nomination as MrsBloemfontein. During the period 2009/2010, in my new role as Mrs Bloemfontein, Ifulfilled my passion for people by involving myself in charity work.

I qualified for the Mrs United Nation South Africa competition and won the prestigioustitle of Mrs United Nation SA 2011, an award which prides itself on acknowledgingmarried Christian women for the charity work they do. I am honoured to wear the crownwith previous well-known winners of the Mrs United Nation competition such as LieselKrause-Widd and Nadine Blom.

I represented South Africa in the International leg of the Mrs United Nation competitionin Jamaica from16 – 19 November 2011 and was privilege to be crowned as Mrs UnitedNation International 2011-2012.

Although Yade – an organisation acting for the disabled and elderly – is my main charity,I have been involved with numerous other charities as per the attached diary for 2009 –2012.

My personal motto is: You won’t be conquered unless you give up. My wish through myinvolvement with charity work is to touch people’s lives with the fingerprints of God’s love.
